Benevolence

Coat Collection 2023

One out of every four Whitney residents lives in poverty according to federal standards. Whitney has a dramatically higher than average percentage of residents below the poverty level when compared to the rest of Texas.

LWMA Assistance

The LWMA Benevolence program provides clothing, help with utilities, non-narcotic medical prescriptions and transportation assistance for those who are in need in our community. Benevolence, like our other programs, is staffed by an all volunteer group of helpful individuals from around the Whitney area. We do not have any paid employees, so every penny that Benevolence receives through gifts and contributions is used to help those in poverty.

Additional Help

The Benevolence division of the Lake Whitney Ministerial Alliance has limited funds to help our clients. However, we can connect clients with the Waco Economic Opportunity Advancement Corporation (EOAC) that can further help those in need.

Those needing help with filling out the application may come to the Benevolence office for assistance during office hours (Monday 9:00 - 12:00).

Benevolence has a limited Emergency Fund to assist with emergencies that may arise outside our normal guidelines and a committee will determine assistance based on information provided by the client.
